We’re thrilled to showcase our first coffee from Myanmar! This coffee is collected from over 1000 smallholders across 20 villages in Southern Shan State, Myanmar. The farmers are predominantly from the Danu and Pa-O hill-tribes. Each village has a collection point (usually a well-located farmer's home) and the coffee is then collected and processed Coffee Group (MCG).

Speciality coffee in Myanmar is truly in its infancy. The coffee industry as a whole has only gained momentum in the last 6 or 7 years after agriculture was encouraged by the government as a means to tackle the growth of opium in the country.

Once in Pyin Oo Lwin, the beans enter MCG's processing plant where they are floated, pulped and fermented overnight in tiled tanks. The parchment is then rinsed and dried on concrete patios. The waste cherry pulp is sent back to the farms for use as fertiliser and the plant's waste water is first treated and then used as extra fertigation for the coffee trees.

Enjoy!
