Lafu is a farm and community washing station run by a father-son team (both named Li Jiangrong). They process coffee from local smallholders alongside the coffee from their own farm. They also grow a variety of shade trees (Rosewood, Camphor and Tiangzhugui - used in traditional chinese medicine) to diversify and provide cover for their coffee.
They provide education and healthcare facilities for the community and have also built a church, something that is highly valued in this remote area.
The father-son partnership has been growing and processing commercial grade coffee for over 20 years. The focus on specialty grade coffee has only been in the last two years, but their commitment to quality combined with their high altitude means they can produce great quality washed lots.
