More Information

Although Uganda is one of the leading producers of Robusta coffee, there is a steady growth of Arabica production, especially around the Mt Elgon area in the East of the country and the Rwenzori mountains in the west.

We have once again teamed up with the Rwenzori Coffee Company, the trading name of Agri Evolve, a Social Enterprise / Profit for Purpose organisation, working with smallholder farmers in Uganda to improve quality and quantity of agricultural crops and bring about sustainable development through excellent business practice. Along with the Kyagalanyi Coffee Company, one of the longest established coffee exporting companies in Uganda, they are providing an open transparent market for local farmers. Farmers are being trained and encouraged to rejuvenate their established coffee trees, in addition to planting new ones. Harvesting and processing are being improved, and significant investment has been made to establish a modern factory in the town of Kisinga which is our base in this beautiful region of Rwenzori.

Kalingwe is a small community high in the hills not far from Kisinga Coffee Station. The altitude is 1900 masl and the views over the Western Rift Valley are simply stunning. Access by vehicle is not possible, and sacks of coffee would usually be carried down the steep paths by the farmers. Agri evolve have introduced a team of donkeys who are now helping carry sacks of coffee cherry to the coffee station at Kisinga where it is fully sun-dried.
