Characterised by strong citric acidity, a sweet chocolate flavour as well as floral and herbal notes of lavender, jasmine, bergamot and thyme, Ajere gives you a unique, unusual but beautifully refined coffee experience.

This is down to the native varietals that grow wild in Ethiopia – specifically in the Aricha region, where Ajere hails from. The area has developed a distinguished reputation for washed coffees, leveraging fertile soils, consistent rains and the incredible local knowledge of its farmers.

To create this beautiful coffee, its shade-grown ripe cherries are carefully sorted then dried in the sun on raised African beds for 12 to 15 days. During the day, they’re raked and turned occasionally to guarantee a consistent drying process; along the way, it’s covered during peak sunlight, as well as overnight to protect it from rain and moisture. Once the coffee has dried to the optimal level, it’s milled, graded, sorted and handpicked, before being bagged in GrainPros for export to us.
